Karen Swann graduated from West Dean College in 2015.
Swann’s work is inspired by her fascination with birds and animals. Everyday encounters with nature prompt investigation and lead to the creation of an eclectic anthology of wildlife. Prints, paintings, drawings, sculpture and collage capture a moment of experience or a fleeting impression.
Materials, colour and composition reflect key characteristics, providing the viewer with an insight into the spirit and true nature of the subject.
Ecological concerns are explored and expressed, raising awareness to the fragility of our world and human interactions with nature. The intention is to captivate and lead others to a greater knowledge and understanding of the natural world and to act in its defence.
